November 4th, 2008
We used to chant “Remember, remember the .. of November” but that was the 5th!! (Guy Falks day in the UK!!)
Somehow the 4th of November has taken on much more significance in this year - 2008 - our first year at Casa Tres Leones, Ajijic - on beautiful Lake Chapala.
The 4th of November 2008 is/was (depending on which part of the world you reside in) Melbourne Cup Day. A young 81 year old by the name of Bart Cummins trained the horse that won (Viewed). This is the 12th time he has trained the winner so he will not forget 4th November. We were not able to see it on any of our 8 rooms at our lodging/B&B at Casa Tres Leones but we did catch up later with ‘9 msn’. The Melbourne Cup takes place on the first Tuesday in November. It’s the “Race that stops the Nation” in Australia and horses are brought from around the world to compete. And of course it’s a public holiday!!
All over Ajijic people (not just those from the USA) are mesmerised by the TV relays leading up to and including 4th November election day. A day which may well change the world!! At breakfast this morning whilst gazing at the beauty of the lake and mountains of Ajiic a few close friends of the Democrats were discussing where to meet on the Plaza to watch the night unfold. Not sure where the Republicans plan to meet to see in the results - they were out walking!!
We will all be watching the results - whichever candidate we want to win!! And the USA and the world WILL change!!!
No matter - it’s still OUR (first in Ajijic) wedding anniversary - no matter which horse or which politician is winning.
Until tomorrow!!
After all it’s important to appreciate the little things in life!!!!

With the elections now over in Canada and the US elections nearly upon us, the Lake Chapala District is coming alive once more.
The Lake has been at it’s highest for over 30 years and the local authorities are filling the damaged park in preparation for the busy season.
Our Inn is now fully operational and you can look forward to a hearty cooked breakfast every morning Monday to Friday and a continental breafast on Saturdays and Sundays with pastries , fresh fruit and juices to satisfy your thirst.

On Sunday we took a stroll along the Lake as lots of people do here in Ajijic. The peoples’ park has all but disappeared under water for the time being. It seems that the last time Lake Chapala was so high in Ajijic was in the ’70’s when the beach was right in front of the Old Posada. It was a bit sad to see all the new BBQ areas and children’s play area under water but this certainly doesn’t stop Mexican families from enjoying their Lake. There were competing mariachi bands, food & drink stalls & ice cream vendors and some youngsters were even jumping into the Lake off the sand bags placed by the authorities to control the inflow of water!
We often stroll down the main street, Colon - out along the pier and along the Lakeside when we have time off from our Inn - Casa Tres Leones. We took over this B&B in August and have been busy organising everything in readiness for the high season which starts soon. There are many beautiful lodgings and small hotels here and we know that Tres Leones is one of the finest. Take a look at the new website and drop us a line!!
