Ajijic and Lake Chapala
The "Land of Eternal Spring"
For me, coming to a little Mexican village to live was, at first, a
daunting thought. However, within the first week of arriving here, I was
in love.
The weather, the colors, the sounds and smells -- all wonderful and
relaxing. The astonishing variety of arts and artisans found around
every corner. The constantly varying sights -- laughing children
returning from school; the funeral procession solemly proceding along
the calle; the "charro riders atop their beautiful horses
on their way to the weekend rodeo; the weekly tianguis with it
fascinating array of produce, products and crafts. All these things and
more gave me a sense of the energy and vitality of this area.
Yet, even more important than these are the people - warm, smiling,
helpful, colorful. I felt as if I had finally found a place where I
could become free to explore and to relax into a life and livihood that
refreshed and constantly surprised me.
Within a three hour driving radius of Ajijic there are many, many
interesting towns and villages -- most with unique talents in specific
arts and crafts areas. From copper to papier mache, from furniture to
blown glassware and ceramics, it will take you years to explore it all.
The cosmopolitan city of Guadalajara is but a 40 minute drive from
here -- with everything a major city has to offer.
Getting Here from There . . .
Guadalajara's International airport (GDL) is but 30 minutes from our
door. Flights arrive here daily from nearly every major city in the US
and Canada.
If you are planning a visit to the Pacific coast of Mexico, why not
take a 3 to 4 hour luxury bus trip to Ajijic (via Guadalajara) and spend
a week with us as well.
Come, stay, and explore!
